Keaton Dekker’s new single ‘ITYK’ is the epitome of DIY pop. The young East London creative produces his own music and directs his videos, all in the name of authenticity. His voice addresses the troubles caused by miscommunication over a luscious 80s-tinged pop and R&B blend that’s reminiscent of Years & Years or Troye Sivan. As the self-motivated artist further shares, ‘ITYK’ is all about “The twists and turns of being in a friendship that isn’t 100% open and honest.” It’s artist like Dekker that we need in the industry right now; at only 20-years-old, his identity as POC and queer member of the LGBTQA+ community, his voice is absolutely essential in creating new conversations within pop.
